What is the nature of the coursework for a masters in public administration?

I have a bachelors in social studies education. I'm considering entering a masters program for public administration. I was wondering what type of work will be done in this program. I know that working with statistics will be necessary. However, how much policy research and formulation of policy research proposals be involved? I had take a couple of courses in public affairs and found them to be uninteresting.
